BMD acquires a 65,000 sq ft building in Galt, CA. Moves headquarters and main warehouse to new location.

BMD's President, Bill Grieve, passes away: Jim Shuck becomes President.

BMD introduces Marvin Windows to the California market..
1978
BMD is selected as the National Wholesaler of the Year by the National Building Material Distribution Association.
1982
Steve Ellinwood becomes President of BMD.
1984
Mike Garrison joins BMD
BMD establishes specialty sales force to provide special attention to Marvin and other specialty products.
BMD acquires a distributor in Eureka, CA and expands product offering. BMD add 30,000 sq. ft. to the Galt, CA location.
BMD purchases the Marvin Window distributor in Southern California, providing statewide distribution.
1985
Margie Olsen joins BMD.
1986
Margie Olsen becomes Director of Human Resources.
1990
BMD President, Steve Ellinwood, is elected President of the National Building Material Distributors Association.
1991
BMD establishes an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and purchases 45% of the company from the founding Wilson family.
1993
BMD establishes an Export Division with the primary focus on the Japanese and Asian markets.
1995
BMD opens a sales office in Tokyo, Japan.
1996
BMD institutes next day delivery to most markets. FasTrack delivery set industry standards.
1998
BMD's ESOP acquires remaining shares held by Wilson family and becomes 90% owned by the ESOP Trust.
BMD wins Vanguard Award for Growth/Expansion Strategies, presented by Comstock Magazine.
Home Factories Division is formed to produce Structured Insulated Panel factories for overseas markets.
1999
Garry Tabor joins BMD. BMD acquires American Pacific Supply, a distributor of commodity building materials.
2000
BMD begins to produce products under the proprietary "QuickBuild" label.
BMD opens sales office in Salt Lake City, Utah and Phoenix, Arizona.
Garry Tabor assumes the position of Vice President / Building Products division.
Mike Garrison assumes the position of Vice President / Marvin Windows Division.
2001
BMD establishes a merchandising service program to assist customers in marketing and merchandising.
BMD is selected as ESOP Company of the Year by the National Association for Employee Ownership.
2002
BMD expands Galt location bringing the total to 165,000 sq ft of warehouse space on 25 acres of land.
2003
BMD opens the Forest Products Division.
Bruce Garrett joins BMD as General Manager of the Forest Products Division.
2004
BMD acquires White Water in Spokane, Washington expanding our distribution to that market area.
The BMD Training Center opens to provide education for customers and employees.
2005
Garry Tabor becomes President of BMD
2006
BMD acquires Boddington Lumber Co. and expands distribution into Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico.
Jim Colson joins BMD as Vice President / CFO.
Garry Tabor is named CEO / President of BMD.
2007
Marty Wilson retires from the BMD Board of Directors. The BMD Training Center is dedicated in his honor.
BMD opens the Garland (Dallas) Texas Distribution Center
The ESOP Association California/Western States Chapter awarded BMD the 2007 Communication Excellence Award. BMD was recognized for its outstanding efforts to communicate the benefits of employee ownership!
2008
QuickBuild Collated Nails are ICC-ES recognized, evaluation report (ESR#2422)
BMD instituted the first annual Steve and Anne Ellinwood Community Scholarship.
Mike Teresa joins BMD as Executive General Manager.
