Open Door Policy

The Company listens to their employee-owners with an open-door communication policy.  Employee Owners are encouraged to offer suggestions or voice concerns at any time.

Employee Orientation

BMD Orientation meetings provide opportunities to share information with new employees about the many programs available at BMD.

Weekly News

The Weekly News contains important information, including messages from the President, financial reports, promotion/recognition notices and many other company-wide updates.

Town Hall Meetings

The President communicates business and financial updates with regularly scheduled Town Hall meetings with Employee Owners.

Monthly Managers Meeting

Information from the Monthly Managers Meetings is shared in Department Meetings to promote communication at all levels.

Simplified Cafeteria Plan

This program allows benefit premiums to be deducted on a pre-tax basis.

Medical Insurance

BMD’s medical insurance coverage offers a choice of HMO and PPO medical insurance programs.

Dental Insurance

BMD’s dental insurance coverage allows Employee Owners to select their own dentist and includes orthodontia benefits.

Vision Plan

BMD’s vision plan benefit covers eye examination and new lenses every 12 months, along with new frames every 24 months.

Long-term Disability Insurance and Life Insurance

Long-term disability and life insurance benefits are offered at no cost to the employee. Additional optional life insurance coverage, as well as dependent coverage, is available at an additional premium.

Employee Assistance Program

The employee assistance program provides Employees Owners and their eligible dependents confidential and convenient access to short-term professional counseling services free of charge.

Flex Spending Program

The BMD Flex Spending Program allows Employee Owners to deduct money for out-of-pocket medical expenses and childcare expenses on a pre-tax basis.

Paid Leave

Full-time BMD Employee Owners enjoy nine paid holidays each year, as well as paid sick leave, vacation leave, funeral leave, and jury duty leave.

Mort Broffman Scholarship Fund

Annual college scholarships are awarded to children of BMD employees.

Purchases

Employee Owners may purchase BMD products for personal use at a substantial discount.

Community Involvement

BMD supports community nonprofit organizations financially and with hands-on involvement.

Employee Owner Education/Training Programs

Education Assistance

BMD offers an education assistance program for eligible Employee Owners who take college courses related to their careers at BMD.

Training and Career Assessment

Training and Career Assessment is used to identify development needs for BMD Employee Owners to ensure progress toward their desired career path.

Outside Seminars

BMD provides outside seminar opportunities for Employee Owners in need of specific training that is not available in-house.

In-House Product Training

Inside and outside sales personnel receive in-house product training to enhance their job skills.

Management Training

BMD offers continuous in-house programs for Employee Owners who are identified as future leaders of BMD.

Shareholders Meetings

Employee Owners and their spouses receive updated stock and 401(k) information at the annual Shareholders Meeting.

ESOP Advisory Teams

Employee Owners volunteer to participate in a 2-year ESOP training program to learn the administration aspects of ESOP and understand company financial reports. Graduates receive the honorary title of "CEO" (Certified Employee Owner).

Employee Owner Retirement Plans

ESOP Stock

ESOP stock provides Employee Owners with an opportunity to share in the success of the company. A contribution of company stock is made to eligible Employee Owners based on company performance.

401(k) Elective Deferrals

BMD provides the option of 401(k) deferrals.

401(k) Match

BMD matches 100% of annual 401k contribution up to a maximum of 4% of W2 reportable earnings.
